Car Travel with Pets

Traveling with the pets in car can be fun but it can also sometimes prove to be very dangerous, both for your pets and yourself also. There are certain tips that need to be followed so as to smoothly carry out your traveling with the pets.

It is not advisable to take your pet for the first long drive immediately; instead there should be a certain amount of familiarity for your pet with the pets for the car trips. For this purpose you should try riding your pet for short trips, which can even prevent car sickness if your pet is prone to it. Car sickness can increase if you take your pet for a ride immediately after feeding. It is advisable to keep a considerable period of break between the feeding session and the car trip, to avoid problems like indigestion and car sickness. A six hours break would be an ideal time period.

Car trips can sometimes be hectic, and tiring therefore give your pets plenty of water and keep a good supply with you so as to avoid dehydration. Frequent stops on your way are a good idea to keep your pet active and relieved with the time it gets for exercise.

The pets mostly tend to lean out of the windows during the car trips which should be avoided because there are lots of small flying objects and insects in the air that can cause severe nose and eye injuries. Instead it is best to use the car seat belts for the pet's safety.

Do not make the mistake of keeping your pet in the trunk or at the back of the pick up truck, this can not only prove to be dangerous but also fatal. It is also recommended not to ever leave the pets alone in the car when it is parked; the internal temperatures can reach very high degrees and can again prove to be very dangerous.
